The Gambler Back to the Table Early?

Tigers skipper Jim Leyland made a cautiously optimisitic forecast regarding the pitching rotation over the weekend.  After seeing the bring-up-Vasquez-for-a-day experiment explode all over those pink bats in Sunday’s first inning, this potentially good news could turn out to be great by late June.

Manager Jim Leyland had good news about LHP Kenny Rogers, who was supposed to be out until at least the All-Star break (July 9-11) following surgery to remove a blood clot from his left shoulder and repair arteries in the joint. “We’ll go through the process and we’ll play it out, but I think there’s a chance he’ll be back sooner than expected,” Leyland said.

Its looking very much like the Indians are going to continue to be competitive in ’07 and its just a matter of time before the Twins are climbing back up the standings again, so getting the Gambler back to form will be useful to say the least.  And as always, Jimmy, save a spot for my boy Andrew Miller (8 IP, 1R, 7 K, 0 BB this weekend at AA Erie) when rosters expand September 1.
