AFL, It’s All We’ve Got

July 1, 2007

hahabeef.jpgWell, we promised it on Friday, and we wouldn’t want to let our loyal fan (s?) down.  So here’s your official Arena League update.

Down to 9 teams now in the AFL Bowl drive, and there have been some good games over the weekend.  At least we assume they are good games-judging by the scores alone-because seriously, who watches the AFL?  Anyways, the weekend rundown was:

Orlando 26, Philly 41 in what appears to have been the most lop-sided victory thus far in the wildcard round.

Columbus 56, Tampa Bay 55 in what appears to have been the most closely contested game of the weekend.

Colorado 49, Kansas City 42 in what appears to have been a game this weekend.

Okay, so we feel bad about not really knowing how these scores became what they were, so we’re gonna hit up the Monday night Utah at L.A. game at 10pm tomorrow on ESPN2.  This will be directly following Super Monday sponsored by APIAS.net, so no promises on making it through the whole thing.  But if you do happen to watch at home, know that we’re there with you.  At least in spirit.

Editor’s Note: The picture is of a player for the Omaha Beef, which we realize is not in the AFL.  But come on, Omaha Beef??

Super Monday Recap 6-25

June 26, 2007

trainwreck.jpgThe premier Super Monday Sports Radio show has come and gone. For those of you tuned in at 9EST, our host NowLive.com experienced difficulty in maintaining the connection from Los Angeles to The South, but together we were able to get the technical issues fixed and go Live at 10pm EST, 9pm CST with minimal trainwrecks.

Thank you to everyone who came by, and a special thanks for those of you, including Tommyhook and FuzzyBuzzy21 that hung around for the late show.

On with the APIAS crew last night were special guest Sir Richard Claberhouse Jebb from Scotland and surprise caller Shagari Alleyne. Not only that but I think we all learned a thing or two more than we wanted about Ron’s and 2SL’s extracurriculars.

To check out a podcast of the hour-long show, follow the link below.

Super Monday will be on-air live again next Monday night at 9pm EST.

Super Monday Sports Radio – Going Live Tonight!

June 25, 2007

supermonday.jpgFor anyone who didn’t catch the weekend shows (with the SR profanity, 2SL talking live on air when he didn’t know he was live on air, and the many many trainwreck moments), never fear, Super Monday Sports Radio goes live this very evening at 9pm EST.  Simply follow the link at the bottom of this post to the Live Broadcast online and join in with other listeners for the live chat and call-in show.

NOTE: Signing up at NowLive.com for an account is free, takes only 20 seconds, and allows for live chatting in the show’s board.

Tonights guests will be Sir Richard Claberhouse Jebb from Scotland and our very own EDayStat to discuss soccer vs. croquet in America.  As always, 2SL and SmoothRon will go at it about whatever it is they come up with today, and we’ll ask all the listeners this week’s Question In Question: “When is it appropriate to chuck a Gatorade bottle at someone?”

Catch you guys tonight at 9!  Click the link below to go to the show.

Super Monday Sports Radio

June 23, 2007

supermonday.jpgThe fellas at APIAS have had a double secret project in the works for a few weeks now.   Super Monday Sports Radio presented by APIAS.net is a live radio internet podcast with live chat board.  The format, not unlike the groundbreaking and incomparable EDSBS Live college football podcast (of which we are huge fans and regular listeners), would feature in-current-season homerism laced updates, gambling discussion and picks, a weekly Cubs Rant from our resident loveable loser fan, and other booze-related sports issues facing the American landscape… and of course live call-in.

Basically, our back patio most weeknights if it were bigger, binary, and with microphones. (It already has the beer.)

No promises, as we lack the technical expertise to put something like this together in any reasonable amount of time.  But we wanted to get notice out and check in with you guys what would appeal most.

What days and times are the most convenient?  Who would you like to see on the show?  Can we get a webcam for sock tricks? Mondays at 8p, 9p, Tuesdays at 9p?  All votes accepted.
