In breaking news the Chicago Cubs could have pitcher Kerry Wood on the big league roster as early as this upcoming week. According to Cubs.com Wood could join the team for the homestand against the Phillies and the Mets.
If all goes well, Kerry Wood could be pitching for the Cubs sometime during the upcoming homestand.
If Wood can convince the medical staff he’s ready, he could be back during the Cubs’ homestand, which begins Monday with a four-game series against the Phillies. The New York Mets come to town for a weekend series. The Cubs’ success has motivated Wood even more.
More Wood after the Jump…
Kerry Wood’s return to the team is exciting news for every Cubs fan. Wood has battled injuries with his shoulder since 2005. Cubs nation has been waiting on Wood and Mark Prior to return and bring with them the magic that took the team to the NLCS in 2003. Since that post-season run, both Wood and Prior have had careers dominated by injury. What was once an exciting young career, has turned into a career marred by injury.
APIAS.net is excited for Wood’s return for other, more visually enticing reasons. In case you’ve forgotten because he’s barely pitched over the last few years, Kerry Wood’s wife is SMOKING hot. Oh yeah, Mrs. Wood is a gorgeous and the cameramen know it. Don’t be surpirsed to see numerous cameo shots of Sarah Wood in the front row sitting next to her ugly friend (all hot girls have the token ugly friend, something about universal balance) when her husband pitches.
Kerry Wood’s return to Chicago means a bolstered bullpen if not an addition to the starting rotation. More importantly it means more camera time for Sarah Wood and more shots of Sarah Wood is a great thing for everyone. So his return to Chicago will be an exciting one for Cubs fans across the nation.
The first time Kerry jogs in to the mound at Wrigley Field everyone will be getting Wood (literally and literally) for the first time in a long, long time.
