Bruce Pearl and staff landed another point guard out of Michigan yesterday in Daniel West from Saginaw. West is a 6-1 ballhandler that has a reputation for exceptional decision-making and passing, as well as the ability to get to the rim.
West is averaging 17 points, nine assists, seven steals and two turnovers per game this season, and he’s hitting 82 percent of his free throws, 42 percent of his shots from the field and 36 percent of this 3-pointers…
Following in the footsteps of current starter Ramar Smith (Detroit), West is expected to come in and compete for the starting job next fall.
The Vols had previously signed 6-10 Center Philip Jurick (#10 C) and 6-8 Swingman Renaldo Woolridge (#13 SF).
These additions, coupled with the verbal commitment of 6-9 PF Kenny Hall (#28 overall, #10 PF) is making Bruce’s 3rd class one of the best in the South. The Vols have one scholarship left, and it, by all accounts, is waiting on a decision by Hopkinsville, Kentucky Shooting Guard and McDonald’s All-American Scotty Hopson.
According to rivals.com, Scotty is choosing between UT, Cincinnati, Louisville, and Mississippi State.
He wouldn’t be the first shooting guard to migrate south from Kentucky (see: SEC All-time 3-point FG leader)… but he’d be the first one that can do this:
As it stands today, here’s your 2008-09 Tennessee Hoops Lineup:

Cam Tatum better not expect to start if Hopson makes the trek to K-Town, Scotty’s only going where Scotty can start. Also, I don’t appreciate how Brian Williams is at the bottom of the bench.

TGC–send Scotty to the Ville. We might need him more than you.
